It was a short sale home that had been on the market for 2 1/2 years. It was big, had a fenced in yard and a nice open floor plan. The only problems were that someone had stolen the copper wiring out of the AC unit and the carpets all needed to be replaced. All of these things were expensive to fix.
This is the house, cute right?
We put in our offer which was accepted by the owners but not by the bank. So, we decided to offer a little more and see what happened. The owners and the bank accepted our offer but only under the conditions that they would not pay closing costs or fix the AC unit. They quoted that the AC would cost about $4500 to fix! We were upset, but ultimately decided that we should just retract our offer. As soon as we did that, the owners were very upset and asked us if we would change our minds if they could convince the bank to pay for closing costs and the AC. The next day we had an appointment with Ryan Homes in Turtle Creek in Newport News, VA. Once we walked through the model home and saw what our options could be, we were sold! We told our realtor that we still did not want the other house and we were ready to move on!
Here we come...
